Alice Andrews, 55, of Newton and formerly of Baxter, passed away December 1, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation will be Thursday, 5pm-7pm, December 3, 2009 at the Congregational Church of Christ in Baxter. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 11:00am, at the Church with burial to follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Alice was born October 4, 1954 in Corona CA, the daughter of Stanley and Norma Richeson. The family soon relocated to Baxter, Iowa where Alice attended and graduated from Baxter High School. Alice joined the Marine Corps on September 28, 1983 as a Corporal. Alice had a great love for her country, all types of crafts, arts, family, and friends. Those left to honor her life include her four children; Amy Sash of Pleasant Hill, Adam Sisson of Eldora, Mandy Andrews of Newton, and Becky Andrews of Newton. Seven grandchildren, Isaac Sash, Aidan Sash, Isabelle Sisson, Allison Sisson, Jacob Andrews, Jordan Andrews, and Olivia Andrews; parents, Stanley and Norma Richeson of Baxter; four siblings, Ricky (Deanna) Richeson of Grimes, LuAnn (James) Muhs of Baxter, Karla (Pat) Malloy of Rhodes, and Tracy (Jody) Bestell of Baxter; one grandmother, Coy Garton of Baxter; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Clair Garton, and George and Eva Richeson; friends, Art and Jeanie Bruan. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
