Obituary

Arthur "Art" Krampe, 87, of Baxter, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. Funeral service will held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany UCC with Pastor Teressa Clark officiating. A private family burial will take place in Bethany Cemetery in Baxter. Art Paul Krampe was born on November 16, 1928 in Baxter to Leroy and Clara (Traeger) Krampe. He attended Baxter High School and graduated in 1946. After school he joined the Air Force and fought in the Korean Conflict. When he returned home he began farming again with his family. He married Vera Andersen on January 15, 1956 in Grinnell, Iowa. Art continued working the land in Baxter until his retirement. He was very active and was a member at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter, the National Farmers Organization, and the Mariposa Grange. Art loved to spend time with his family, farming, taking care of the farm, the Minnesota Twins, the Iowa Hawkeyes, watching sports, cross word puzzles, playing solitaire on the computer, coffee time with the guys at Doug's, and being on the Baxter High School football chain gang with his brother Armin for over 45 years. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 60 years Vera; children Randy (Debbie) Krampe, Connie (David) Wendel, and Karen (Jeff) Whitt; grandchildren Kyle (Abbey) Krampe, Lisa (Pete) Peterson, Aaron (Lacey) Wendel, Joel (Sandra) Wendel, Elizabeth Whitt, Taylor Whitt, Alec Whitt, Caeleigh Whitt ; great-grandchildren Kaylyn Krampe, Kamdyn Krampe, Paityn Peterson, Landrey Peterson, Presley Peterson, Gage Wendel, Drew Wendel, Samantha Wendel, and Gracie Forney; twin brother Armin (Erika) Krampe; sister Alice Robinson, Marge (Ed) Frohbeiter, and Edith (George) Allspach; sister-in-law Mary Moffitt; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Art was preceded in death by his parents; baby Wendel; grandson Ryan Whitt; sister Joanne Tipton; brother-in-laws Gerald "Gunny" Robinson, Dale Tipton, and Dick Albee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Fredregill Family Funeral Home, in Baxter, has been entrusted with the care of Art and his family.
