Barbara Kay Johnson, 83, of Baxter, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care (107 North Main St.) in Baxter on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will be on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter. Her burial will follow in Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Barb was born April 22, 1940, to Elmer and Dorothy (Rader) Klauenberg in Marshalltown, Iowa. She attended Baxter Schools. Barb was united in marriage to David W. Brant in 1957. Of this union four children were born. In March 1974 she was united in marriage with Charles "Butch" Johnson in Baxter, Iowa where they continued to live for the rest of their lives. Barb was employed by Thombert Inc for 36 years before retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Cornerstone Bible Fellowship in Newton, Thombert Retiree Breakfast Club, and the Baxter Garden Club. She loved her family, the Lord, and working in her yard. Those left to cherish her memories are her son Steven (Cheri) Brant, daughters Vickie (David) Brandt, and Julie Swallwell; step-daughters Debbie, Lori, and Mary; grandchildren Ryan (Amanda) Brant, Kaylan (Matt) Brant, Andrew (Kristy) Brandt, Angela (Ronald) Fleenor, Anna (Shane) Palmer, Robert (Jamie) Howe, and Rolly (Adele) Dittmer; great-grandchildren Madison, Drew, Jude, Elijah, Mason, Kaylee, Makenna, Emma, Gracie, Mallory (Royal), Johnathan, Reager, Aidan, Rylee, and Gloriana; great-great-grandchildren Myah and Dani; 15 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, daughter Barbie, sisters Sondra, Beatrice, Berdene, Katherine, brother Byron, and stepdaughter Brenda. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family where they will decide where to distribute. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Barb and her family.
