Bryce Brownell, 23, of Polk City, Iowa passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Polk City. His funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. A private family burial will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Westgate, Iowa at a later date. Bryce Anthony Gene Brownell was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 29, 1995 to Steve and Jennifer (Berkes) Brownell. He grew up in Polk City and attended school at North Polk until his Jr. year of high school. Bryce then graduated with the Wapsie Valley High School class of 2013. Following graduation Bryce moved back to Polk City and began working as a cook at Applebees. He was truly a free spirit and loved to help others. He enjoyed fishing, disc golfing, reading books, skateboarding, history, listening to music especially Pink Floyd, the Beatles, and Johnny Cash. Those left to cherish his loving memory are his parents Jennifer Brownell of Polk City,IA, and Steve (Sherri) Brownell of Maynard, IA; siblings Amber (Johnothon) Friedrickson of Lowell, IN, Nolan (Emily) Gitch of Waukee, IA, Lauren Gitch of Polk City, IA; grandparents Gary (Janice) Brownell, of Randalia, IA, Pat Berkes of Fayette, IA, and Roger (Elaine) Wedemeier of Sumner, IA; niece Kinsley Jensen; nephews Hunter Friedrickson, and another nephew expected soon. Bryce was preceded in death by his grandpa Urban Berkes, cousins Quinton Berkes, Devin Berkes, and Alex Warnke. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bryce Brownell Memorial Fund.
