Claudia Marie Fisher, nee Mattos, age 94, of Colo, IA, died August 16, 2026, in Council Bluffs, IA. 

Born November 13, 1931, in Oakland, CA, Claudia was a first-generation Portuguese American and the oldest child of Claudio and Mary Mattos. She married Patrick Fisher on December 13, 1950, in San Francisco, CA. They settled in Fort Dodge, IA, where they raised three children. In 1968, the family moved to a small farm near Colo, IA. 

Claudia was interested in people, and maintained correspondence with friends and family by letter. She was a lifelong participant in social organizations: president of the Fort Dodge Elementary PTA; Cub Scout den leader; Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Colo Chapter President, held State Office, and was an Eastern Star Home Board member; longtime member of the Colo Women’s Outlook club; Colo Library volunteer, election poll worker; and USS Balch/Porterfield reunion organization. 

Claudia enjoyed travel and visited many U.S. states, Scotland, Canada, Italy, Paris, and Portugal. Closer to home, she enjoyed sewing, earned 4th place in the Midwest Region ‘Make It With Wool contest' and created customized quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. She also managed the daily operation of the family swine operation. 

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents and brother John. 

She is survived by her husband; son Michael (Eva) of Council Bluffs, IA, son Mark (Linda) of Shertz, TX, and daughter Kristine of Cedar Falls, IA; a sister, Gloria Mattos of Martinez, CA; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
