Colton, J. Smith, 25, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Maxwell Community Center in Maxwell, Iowa. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20th at 10:00 a.m. in the Maxwell Community Center. Burial will follow in the Maxwell Cemetery. Colton was born on April 16, 1997, to Jimmy and Brenda (Bailey) Smith in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Maxwell and graduated from Collins-Maxwell High School with the class of 2016. After school, he took some college classes but began working with Cumming Services as a sandblaster. Colton was a member of the IRA, Circle C, Pony Express, and Double D Rodeo. He loved rodeos and riding bulls, hunting, fishing, and trapping. Those left to cherish Colton's memory are his father, Jimmy Smith; daughter Harlyn Smith; siblings Cody Smith, and Makenze (Blake Mohon) Smith; significant other Hannah Hunter; grandma Connie Smith; uncle Jeff (Carole) Bailey; aunts Annette (Corey) Ditsworth, Barbara (Wayde) Wilson, Deb (Ron) Hayes, and Tonya Smith; cousins Jessica Bailey, Brad Reynolds, Tyler Walker, Hunter Ditsworth, Luke Ditsworth, Josh Kincaid, Bailey Pritchard, Christopher Hayes, Michael Hayes, and Aaron Hayes; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Smith, grandfathers Roger Bailey and Jimmy Smith, grandmother Glorene Masters, cousin Jenny Bailey, and close friend Michael Birchmeir.
