David Carl Peterson, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 73. No services are planned at this time.
Born on October 5, 1951, in Redding, CA, David graduated from high school in Eagle Rock, CA. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably until his discharge in 1978. On June 1, 1972, he married his beloved wife, Hazel, and together they raised a family of two children.
For three decades, David served his community with compassion as an EMT-Paramedic. In 2003, he and Hazel moved to an acreage just outside of Zearing, IA. After retiring in 2014 due to an autoimmune disease, David pursued a new passion, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in December 2024.
David found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved being outdoors, whether he was pheasant and deer hunting or fishing. He was also a passionate collector, spending countless hours traveling to auctions across Iowa in search of unique treasures.
David is survived by his wife, Hazel Peterson; his son, Garrett Peterson (Julie); his daughter, Chris Brown (Brett Meier); five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In death, just as in life, David loved to help others. He proudly helped others by being a tissue donor through Iowa Donor Network.
