Esther Ann Gross, 87, of Colo, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Rolling Green Nursing Home in Nevada, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Colo Cemetery in Colo, Iowa. Esther was born in Marshall County on July 9, 1931 to Alton and Cora (Brown) Hobbs. She was raised in Gilman and attended Gilman High School where she was an all-star on the girls basketball team. Esther graduated with the class of 1949. Following school, she attended Beauty College and began working as a hairdresser. She married Rex Gross on January 16, 1955. The couple resided in Colo where Esther ran Esther's Beauty Salon. In retirement Rex and Esther moved to Texas. In 2012 they moved back to Colo. Esther enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and working. Those left to remember Esther are her children Rex (Lori) Gross of Madrid, IA, and June Gross of Nevada, IA; grandchildren Jami Gross-Toalson of Leawood, KS, and Gavin Gross of Colo, IA; great-grandchildren Kerrigan Toalson, Krosby Toalson, and Nic Gross. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Gerald, Ron, and George Hobbs. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Zearing has been entrusted with Esther and her family.
