Gearold E. Gull, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the State Center Specialty Care Center in State Center. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. His funeral will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Dakins Community Center in Zearing. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.
Gearold was born on October 29, 1937, on a farm in Sherman Township, Story County, Iowa to Walter H and Lydia M. (Rahfeldt) Gull. He attended school in Fernald and Zearing where he graduated from Zearing High School in 1956. Following school, he joined the Marine Corps in 1956 where he was assigned to Camp Pendleton, in Long Beach California. Gearold reached the rank of Corporal before he mustered out on October 5, 1958. Gearold married Edith Ward on July 30. 1958 in Winterhaven, California. They lived on various farms in the Zearing area until moved to Nevada in 1963. He established Gull's Painting in 1965, where he worked as a painter and drywall contractor until his retirement in 2013. For almost fifty years he served many great customers throughout Central Iowa.
Gearold attended EUB Methodist Church as child and was a member of Assemblies of God as an adult.
Gearold was an avid black powder gun enthusiast, he enjoyed repairing guns, hunting, attending gun shows with his sons, and participating in Old West shooting competitions. He also enjoyed driving his Model T truck in parades.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Edith Gull; children Eugenia Gull, Douglas & Kirsten Gull, Walter & Tami Gull, William Gull and Linda Eisenhower, Gearold II and Dawn Gull, and Daniel Gull; grandchildren Lydia Johnson, Cassandra & Colin Rankin, Amy Johnson, Kaitlyn & Sean Totten, Jessica & Daniel Conners, Jennifer Gull, Bryson Gull, Ian Gull, Josh & Alicia Burke, Kelly & Marty Martin, Tara Brown & Donnie Burton, Vanessa & Rob Stout, Trevor Brown & Shaniel Wisniewski; great-grandchildren Brody & Beau Burke, Adrian & Erica Uribe, Josie Martin, Trinity Martin, Kinzie Martin, Penelope Conners, Teagan Totten, Madelynn Totten, Chloe Rankin, Callen Rankin, and Otto Brown.
