Obituary

Glorene Kay Masters, 76, of Newton, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A memorial visitation will be held at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care, in Baxter, on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Santiago United Methodist Church in rural Mitchellville on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Glorene was born on June 18, 1941 to Cecil and Reatha (Osborn) Adams in Newton, Iowa. She attended school in Newton and graduated from Monroe High School. Following school, she married Roger Bailey. Of this union 4 children were born, later the couple divorced. Glorene married Ed Masters in 1997 and they resided in Reasnor, Iowa. Together they loved to dance and listened to bluegrass music. She worked various jobs over the years but had earned her CNA and worked for Newton Care Center. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and she liked to attend the Cowboy Church in Newton. Glorene loved spending time with her family, most especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing, bluegrass music, fishing, horse races, vodka sours, and being a contributing member of Prairie Meadows and the Meskwaki Casino's. Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Brenda Smith of Maxwell, IA, Jeff (Carole) Bailey of Chariton, IA, Annette (Corey) Ditsworth of Freeport, IL, and Barbara (Wayde Wilson) Van Wyk of Baxter, IA; grandchildren Cody Smith, Colton Smith, Makenze Smith, Jessica Bailey, Brad Reynolds, Tyler Walker, Hunter Ditsworth, Luke Ditsworth, Josh Kincaid, and Bailey (Gabe) Golubosky; great-granchildren Ashley (John) VanPolen, Emma Kincaid, Ruger Kincaid, Porter Kincaid, Riley Pritchard, and Ollie Goluboski; great-great-grandchild Chloe Fisher; sisters Viola (Butch) Reynolds of Newton, IA, and Janet Smith of Newton, IA; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ed Masters; granddaughter Jenny Bailey; and brothers Norman Adams and Virgil in infancy. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Glorene and her family.
