Hamilton "Duke" Stoler III, 57, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Polk City from 4-7 pm. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 7:15 pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Duke was born on December 10, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to Hamilton "Curly" Jr. and Leona (Sparks) Stoler. He grew up in Ankeny but later relocated to Lake Orion, Michigan where he graduated from high school in 1978. Following school, he attended DMACC and earned his Welding and Master Mechanic Certifications. Duke met Lea DeCaussin (Stoler), the love of his life, and were engaged Christmas of 1982. Not long after the couple married on June 21, 1985 at the Palastine Lutheran Church in Huxley, Iowa. The couple moved to Polk City and resided there until 2014 when they moved to Elkhart. Duke worked for Truck Equipment for 10 years, and prior to that he worked 21 years for Electronic Engineering. He was a member of the Iowa Jeep Club, Polk City Fire Department, Boy Scout Committee Member of Johnston 44, and Archery Club. Duke loved to spend time with his family, hunt, fish, get dirty, and wrenching in his garage while hanging out with friends. Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of 31 years Lea Stoler, of Elkhart, Iowa; children Heather (Tyler Burns) of Huxley, Iowa, and Cody Stoler of Elkhart, Iowa; and his pride and joy, grandson Braxton Burns; parents Curly and Leona Stoler of Des Moines; Mother-In-Law, Helena (Charles McMullough) Lea's Family, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. We are blessed to have such loving family and friends that have touched our lives. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
