Obituary

Harold "Butch" Ginther, 79, left to be with his Savior on February 16th, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life service for Harold will be held on Saturday, March 15th in the recreational room at Valley View Village, in Des Moines, at 1:00 p.m. with Ed Short leading with words of comfort. Visitation will follow until 3:00 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Harold Ginther was born on May 28, 1945, to Harold and Martha (Elwood) Sr. on the Naval Station of San Diego. He grew up in Saydel where he attended and graduated from Saydel High School with the class of 1963. Harold married Susan (Todd) on June 24, 1966, and they had three children, Karen, Todd and Becky. He worked at Reeds Ice Cream selling ice cream, he sold trailers for Cliffs Travel Town, and as a car salesman at Granger Motors and after 30 years of service retired in 2016. Harold attended church at Oakwood Assembly in Pleasant Hill. He loved to fellowship with others at the Men's breakfast and chapel at Valley View Village. Harold took any opportunity to tell others about the Lord. Harold loved to cheer on the Cubs. He enjoyed fishing with his family. He loved having any excuse to be together as a family. Harold's grandchildren were his pride and joy. He always told them that they were his favorite! Those left to cherish his loving memory are his loving wife of 58 years Susan Ginter of Des Moines ; children Karen Ginther of Des Moines, Todd Ginther of Des Moines, and Becky (Mike) Grimes of Baxter; grandchildren Matthew Grimes of Des Moines and Sara Grimes of Baxter; siblings LouEllen Olson of Des Moines, Barbara Schultz of Huxley; father-in-law, Bill Todd of Des Moines; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert and Diane Todd of Wisconsin, and Dave and Doris Todd of Wyoming; along with a host of nephews and nieces that Harold loved and prayed for daily. He was preceded in death by parents Harold and Martha; sister Phyllis Olson; brother Craig Ginther Sr.; mother-in-law Francis (Olson) Todd. Memorial contributions may be directed to his family. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Harold and his family.
