Obituary

Jimmy "Jim" Lee Bacon, 66, of Johnston and formerly of Grundy Center, Iowa passed away at the Taylor House in Des Moines on August 12, 2020. A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Dakins Community Center in Zearing, Iowa on Saturday, August 29, 2020. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Jim was born on September 8, 1953 to Howard and May (Caster) Bacon in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up on a farm outside Liscomb where he attended BCL High School and graduated with the class of 1972. Following school, he attended college in Minnesota. On January 18, 1975 he married Renita Fuls. The couple resided in the Grundy County area. To this union three daughters were born. Jim was a member and deacon at the 1st Baptist Church in Reinbeck. Jim was known for his laugh and good sense of humor. He loved: to spend time with his family, being on the farm, traveling, his cruise to Alaska, Sunday road trips, the Clay County Fair, collecting moose memorabilia, pizza, and his Dodge Demon. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Jennifer (Jason) Hebert of Marion, IA, Rebecca Bacon of Des Moines, IA, and Sandra (David) Hedrick of Vinton, IA; grandchildren Zachary Hebert, Olivia Hedrick, and Averi Hedrick; sisters Ellen Daughtery and Evelyn Duffy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Bob Daughtery and Ray Duffy. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Jim and his family.
