Jodon Ellen Woody passed away on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at the Baxter Care Center. Jodon fought a long extended battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family when she passed. Visitation will be Friday April 25th, 2014 at the Bethany United Church of Christ in rural Baxter from 5-8 PM. Funeral Services will be on Saturday April 26th at 11:00 the church with Pastor Wanda Seydel officiating. Burial will follow the service at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. A luncheon will be provided by family following the services in the lower level of the church. Jodon Ellen Woody was born on April 7th, 1973 to Donald and Mary Ellen (Waters Peterson) Woody in Topeka, Kansas. Jodon went to Baxter community grade school and graduated from High school at Perry-Lecompton High School 1991 in Perry Kansas. She was a mother of two and raised her children as a single parent. Jodon had a strong work ethic; she worked multiple jobs and was always valued in the work place. Jodon was loved by all for her kind sprit and a forgiving heart. Those left to cherish her loving memories are her grown children, Ozzy Herman and Jenny Herman of Baxter, IA. Siblings: Yance (Wendy) Woody of Grimes, IA; Steven (Alicia) Peterson of Baxter, IA; Victor Pete (Paula) Peterson of Newton, IA; Laura Peterson of Freemont NE; sister Kelly (Bud) Peterson and extended Kansas family, as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great-nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Keith Allen Peterson and sister Dawn Ray Woody In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
