Jody Johnson, 64, of State Center, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Bethany Life in Story City, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services are pending.

Jody was born on October 29, 1961, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Eugene and Sharon (Kiser) McWhirter. She grew up in Baxter and attended Baxter High School. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Mike Johnson, in Baxter. As her children grew older, Jody began her working career. She worked at Marshall Cold Storage and Marshall County Nursing Home before later becoming an Assistant General Manager at Casey’s, a position she held until her health declined.

Family was at the heart of Jody’s life, and she especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing and working on word search puzzles.

Those left to cherish Jody’s memory include her husband, Mike Johnson; her children, Jason Johnson, Cody (Ashley) Roseland, and Jordan (Josh) Johnson; her grandchildren, Rider, Kameron, Rylan, Amelia, Willow, and Kendall; her mother, Sharon Patton; her sisters, Jena McWhirter and Jan Roseland; her mother-in-law, Phyllis Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene McWhirter; her father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Johnson; and her nephew, Korey McWhirter.
