Karen Howerton of Collins, Iowa, passed away in her home on October 25, 2022. No services are scheduled at this time. Karen was born in Nevada, Iowa on May 15 th , 1957, to parents Bennie and Norma (Pyle) Lewis. She graduated high school and then attended DMACC where she earned a 2-year certificate. John and Karen were married in Nevada, Iowa. Karen worked mostly in the real estate field until her retirement. In her free time, Karen enjoyed watching sports, and especially watching her grandchildren play. She is survived by her husband John Howerton of Collins, daughter Leslie (Tracy) Geffre of Ames, son Johnny (Kristi) Howerton of Collins, her grandchildren Carter, Mya, Dillon, and Kailyn, and her brother Steve (Patti) Lewis of Ames. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Kathi Hartwig. Memorial cards and donations can be provided directly to the family.
