Kenneth 'Kenny' Mehmen, 66, of Baxter, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the Accura Healthcare Center in Baxter. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter with Pastor Melissa Sternhagen officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Kenny was born in Hampton, Iowa on November 2, 1949 to Fred and Marie (Otterstein) Mehmen. He grew up and attended school in Dumont, Iowa. After school he began working for Maytag in Hampton, Iowa. He married Dorthy Marks on December 17, 1971 in Allison, Iowa. The couple lived in Dumont where they began raising their family, later relocating to Baxter in 1986. Kenny retired from Maytag in 2001. Kenny had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed his accordion and being the life of the party, his 1962 Oldsmobile, playing pool, and going on walks with his dog Missy. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Dorthy of Baxter, David (Kelly) Mehmen of Baxter, Cindy (Joel) Colyn of Baxter, and LeAnna (David) Spaulding of Johnston; grandchildren Kirsten and Thomas Mehmen, Allison and Trenton Colyn, Ryan, Sean, and Dylan Spaulding.
