Larry Allen Ellingson, Jr., 54, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, formerly of McCallsburg, Iowa passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on January 11, 2023. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Bethany Lutheran Church, in McCallsburg, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Immediately following visitation his memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kathy Sandmann officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Larry Jr. was born in Savannah, Tennessee on January 4, 1969, to Larry and Melita (Reetz) Ellingson Sr. He was confirmed in Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. His memory verse was Galatians 5:22-24, the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Larry Jr. attended NESCO High School where he graduated at the top of his class in 1987. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Computer Software Engineering. He was employed at Mid-America Computer Corporation of Blair, Nebraska for many years. Larry Jr. was always kind, thoughtful, generous, and caring. He was lucid and uncomplaining, to his very end of life. His loving wife, Joy, was always with him and was his companion and supporter at home and in the hospital. He enjoyed trivia games, concerts, movies, renovating his house, and science fiction, among other interests. Larry Jr. was a member of his company's golf, volleyball, and softball teams. Surviving to cherish his loving memory are his mother, Melita Ellingson; brother David Ellingson; loving and devoted wife Joy Lebahn-Ellingson; mother-in-law Arlea; brother-in-law Rodney; many aunts and uncles; and cousins. Joy, Melita, and David miss our precious Larry Jr. tremendously and are confident that Jesus is loving him and taking good care of him. God loves us like we can't even imagine! He was preceded in death by his father Larry Sr., grandparents Lowell and Alma Ellingson and Edward and Alvina Reetz, and some aunts and uncles.
