Obituary

Lucille "Lucy" D. Lillard, 95, of Collins, Iowa, passed away at the Courtyard Estates Nursing Home in Bondurant on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Her visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Collins United Methodist Church. Immediately following her visitation, her funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Nikki Ross Bishop officiating. Please join the family for a time of refreshments. Lucille will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. Lucy was born on November 29, 1929, in Lyle, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Lenora (Erikson) Henderson. She graduated from graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1947 and moved to Collins when she married Chester L. Lillard in 1952. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1958, member of U.N.J. Circle, and the Memorial Chairman. Lucille was an active member of the Legion Auxiliary for 59 years, serving as secretary, girl state chairman, and historian. She also proudly served the county as a certified election board member. Lucy worked for Wilson Insurance Company of Nevada as a bookkeeper, secretary for the school board and teachers where she also did payroll and income taxes, and for 25 years was the Collins City Clerk. Lucy enjoyed camping and traveling with her family, bowling, and taking pictures for history books for her church, Legion Auxiliary, and for Collins. Her most enjoyable times were with her husband, sons, grandchildren, sisters, and friends. Lucy is survived by her daughters-in-laws Karen Lillard and Lisa Lillard; grandchildren Jesse, Stephanie, Jordan, Kyle, Ryan, and Austin; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Thomas; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, sons Dennis and Steven Lillard, sisters Pearl, Alta, Norma, Pauline and Alice; brother-in-law, Myron Rickering. Memorials may be directed to the Collins United Methodist Church or the Collins Fire Department. Fredregill Funeral Home is in charge of Lucille's arrangements.
