Marla "Kay" Tjelmeland, 78, of Story City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Kay was born on August 7, 1946, to Harlan Tjelmeland and Wilma Johnston. She grew up in Iowa and moved to Illinois where she graduated from high school. Kay then went to beauty school and became a hairdresser. In retirement she moved to Story City. She is survived by her mother LaVon Tjelmeland; siblings Mike (Susan) Tjelmeland and Rick (Denise) Tjelmeland; and many nieces and nephews. Kay was proceeded in death by her parents Harlan Tjelmeland and Wilma Johnston, brother Steve Tjelmeland, and sister-in-law Marilyn Tjelmeland. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the cremation care of Kay.
