Michael Lynn Olson, 54, of McCallsburg, Iowa passed away on January 19, 2023, with his loving wife Julie by his side. A celebration of life will be held at the Dakins Community Center in Zearing, Iowa from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 27, 2023. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Michael was born on March 8, 1968, in Eldora, Iowa, to parents Lester and Gladys (Schaper) Olson. He grew up in Clemons and attended West Marshall High School. He married Julie Thomas on June 9, 2000, in Story County, Iowa. Michael held several meaningful jobs throughout his life. One of the earliest was working on a farm with his grandpa. Mike also worked at Donnelly's, and eventually settled into a career in maintenance. Michael loved to spend time with family, camping, fishing, antique collecting, and remodeling. He also had a love for many plants and animals, especially the chickens he raised himself. He also had a special place in his heart for squirrels. Those who knew him considered him a Jack of all trades. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gladys. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Julie of McCallsburg, IA; daughters Samantha (Erik) Lawson of Radcliffe, IA, and Maddie Olson of McCallsburg, IA; son Lucas Olson of McCallsburg, IA; three grandchildren, Tanner, Natalie, and Stella; four siblings, including sister Connie (Mitch) Gronemeyer, and brothers Art (Doris) Olson, Randy (Kim) Olson, and Gerald (Susan) Olson; many nieces and nephews. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with Michael's cremation.
