Patricia J. Matsen, 73, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, on March 17, 1952, to Harold and Iona Wenger/ Stepfather Glen Dutler. She grew up in Guthrie Center, later moving to Zearing, where she graduated with the class of 1970. Pat married the love of her life, Dale Matsen, on June 24, 1971, at The Little Brown Church. The couple moved to Roland, where they began their family together. Pat was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother to her family. Pat retired after 20 years in the Ames Post Office. Pat loved spending time with her family, bird watching, traveling, and was an integral part of their family business, Matsen Miniature Farms. Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband, Dale, her children, Tanya Forth, Jarod (Jacque) Matsen, Alicia (Steve) Miller, grandchildren Taylor Forth, Trenton Forth, Andrew Miller, and two sisters, Bev Wenger, Linda Wenger. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, and her older sister Donna.
