Robert Rouse, 80 of Baxter passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Baxter Care Center. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Bethany United Church of Christ in rural Baxter from 2-4 pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10:30 am at Bethany United Church of Christ with Pastor Wanda Seydel officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter. Robert Eugene Rouse was born on September 8, 1934 to Bee and Dorothy (Morris) in Newton, Iowa. He attended school in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. Following school he enlisted into the Army Reserve. He married Elaine Fisher on June 17, 1956 at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter. The couple resided close to Baxter and farmed until Robert retired in 2004. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with Elaine most especially their Canada trips and wintering in Texas, farming, camping, boating, and hunting. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Angus Association. Those left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of 58 years Elaine; his sons Henry (Laurie) Rouse and Harold (Patty) Rouse; grandchildren Aaron Rouse, Eric (Rachel) Rouse, Chad Rouse, and Marissa Rouse; great-grandchild Rijah Rouse; sister Wanda (Danny) Cleaver; sister-in-law Violet Rouse; brother-in-law Roland Funk; many nieces and nephews; and close friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lorine Warner and twin sister Roberta Funk, and his brother Keith Rouse. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Robert Rouse memorial fund. Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Robert and his family.
