Rodney "Rod" Holsinger, 68, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Hickory Grove Park Snow Bunting Lodge, 67464 250th Street, Colo, Iowa.
Rod, a talented carpenter and truck driver, was born in Des Moines, IA, on September 20, 1956, to Clarence and Nora (Neale) Holsinger. He grew up in Collins, Iowa, where he attended Collins High School before planting roots in Nevada. It was here that he met Susanne Otto in 1985 and insisted on making her laugh until she fell for him. Their union was blessed with a charismatic daughter, Connie Conis. Rodney was already a proud dad to Jason, his son with Linda Nevins. Rodney never met a motor he couldn't tinker with or a face he couldn't make smile. He loved going fast, whether it was on his Harley-Davidson, in his car, or when telling a joke. He was a good friend, always ready to lend a hand or a laugh when needed. He loved his dog Jovi, his family, his friends, and a good fishing spot. Rodney's life was a testament to the adage, "live fast, love hard, and leave a good-looking obituary."
Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Nora, and brother Randy Holsinger.
He is survived by his wife Susanne Otto of Nevada, Iowa; son Jason Holsinger; daughter Connie (Chase) Conis; grandchildren Journee Schiber, Harper Holsinger, and Charlie Conis; siblings Rhonda (Jeff Smith) Holsinger, Ronald (Shelly) Holsinger, and Reda (Wayne) Daniels; many nieces and nephews; and close friends who will miss his jokes and his laughter.
In Rodney's honor, we invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of him on his memorial page. Let's keep his laughter alive, one memory at a time.
