Rose was born September 16, 1924 to William and Lena Muehlenthaler. She was one of four children. Rose graduated from Alleman Consolidated School, Alleman, Iowa in 1942. After graduation, she continued her education at AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. After AIB Rose worked as a bookkeeper for Hoxie Fruit Co. in Des Moines, Iowa.
On February 2, 1947 Rose married Dean Williams in Alleman, Iowa. They raised their two daughters on a farm near Zearing, Iowa. Rose and Dean worked side by side farming the land and raising hogs. In 1995 they bought a home in Ames, Iowa, but continued to farm together until Dean's death in 1997. Spring, Summer, Fall would be spent farming the land and living in the farmhouse. Winter would bring them to live in their house in Ames. Together they loved attending ISU men's and women's basketball games. After Dean's death, Rose lived in Ames all year around. She visited several countries and took several bus trips throughout Iowa with friends. She always said: "If you don't want me to go with you, don't ask me." And that is because she would always say yes. She totally loved being with friends and family and being "out and about". She very much enjoyed her church and her great friends at church. Wednesday morning gatherings at church were special to her. Lots of fellowship and food!
For the past 18 months Rose had been a resident of The Bridges at Ankeny in Ankeny, Iowa. She developed a very close friendship with 3 great ladies who live there: Pat, Mary, Joyce; plus, Victor and his daughter Ruth Ann; Donna and her husband Larry.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Duane) of Ames, IA; 4 grandchildren, Brian of Cottage Grove, MN, Laura (Tyler) Riley of Ankeny, IA, Bethany Shadle (Chris Dudney, fiance) of Boone, IA, Kyle (Jenn) Shadle, of Holt Summit, MO; 6 great grandchildren, Adisyn Riley, Corbin Riley, Gavin Riley, Maddie Howard, Hadden Shadle, Lydia Shadle; one sister, Dorothy (Toots) Howard; Joe Shadle, son-in-law of Boone, IA.
