Obituary

Ruby Milligan, 85, of Baxter passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation for Ruby will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church with Pastor Rollin Watters officiating. Ruby Lena Lois Milligan was born on February 10, 1928 in Ava, Missouri to Louis and Leslie (Twitty) Porter. She attended North Burrow School. Ruby then married the love of her life Ira "Max" Milligan on September 5, 1944 at Bethany United Church of Christ in Baxter, Iowa. The couple resided in the area all of their married life and raised their family there together. She had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them, making rugs for people and organizations all around the country, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and reading. Those left to cherish her loving memories are her husband of 69 years Max, of Baxter; her daughters Teresa (Fred) Schweinebart, of Baxter and Tammy (Dale Schmidt) Warnell, of Rural Newton; two grandchildren Josh (Ashley) Warnell, and Tracy (David) Catron; 4 great-grandchildren Lindsey, Danielle, Haley, and Chanse; a great-great-grandchild Rhyia; brother Gene (Betty) Porter; 2 sisters Doris (Bob) Barton, and Wilma Maness; and many nieces nephews and close friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Jim Porter, and Delmer Porter; 2 sisters Fern Irvin, and Vivian Pennington; and 1 great-grandson Legend Warnell. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Ruby and her family, 641-227-3403.
