Russell Mark Jennett died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 61. A celebration of life service will be on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Polk City, Iowa. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Mark was born April 22, 1956 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Russ and Sally (Powell) Jennett. He was baptized into the Catholic Church at St. Joseph's in Schaller, Iowa. He was the third of eight children, including five brothers and two sisters. He spent his early years in Schaller before moving to Early, Iowa. Mark graduated in 1974 from Crestland High School and was an accomplished student athlete. He notably excelled at track, placing in the state competition. After High School, Mark attended Wayne State College in Nebraska and lettered in football. Mark was talented in working with his hands and inherited a love of agriculture from his father. He spent many years working in construction, feed sales and concrete, and twice went into business for himself. His work ethic and skill served as an inspiration to those around him. Mark loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting or fishing. He brought a friendly competitive spirit to everything he was involved in, always pushing others to be their best. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, and possessed a talent for putting those around him at ease with jokes and stories about his life. He is survived by his children Cody Jennett, Luke (Abbey) Jennett and Cole (Robyn) Jennett and Seth Bassett; nine grandchildren; his mother, Sally Jennett; his brothers David (Denise) Jennett, Steve (Shirley) Jennett, Bill (Kay) Jennett, John (Cally) Jennett and Adam (Ali) Jennett; his sisters Sara Jennett and Ann (Mike) Appleseth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Russ Jennett, and his granddaughter, Patyn Louise Reichart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
