Obituary

Sharon Kay Wibholm, 87, of Zearing, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Timberland Village in Story City, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Dakins Community Center in Zearing. Her memorial service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Dakins Community Center, with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.

Sharon was born on July 9, 1939, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Robert and Deloris (Cox) Herr. She was raised on the family farm southwest of Zearing and attended Zearing Community Schools. During her school years, Sharon enjoyed participating in basketball and singing competitions. She graduated from Zearing High School with the class of 1956.

On September 7, 1958, Sharon married James “Jim” Bartine. Together, they moved to the family farm near Clemons, where they began raising their family. The couple later lived in Baring, Missouri, until 1974, when they returned to the Zearing area.

Sharon worked at Donnelley’s Marketing in Nevada before joining the Frohweins at their Casey’s General Store in Zearing. She later pursued a career in healthcare, becoming a certified nursing assistant and joining the staff at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing. Sharon wore many hats during her years there and also worked in the laundry department. She truly loved caring for others and was dedicated to her work at Colonial Manor for 25 years before retiring.

On January 26, 2010, Sharon married Albert Wibholm, and the couple made their home outside of Colo.

Sharon’s faith was an important part of her life, and she had a deep love for the Lord. Her family was also very precious to her, and she especially cherished the time she spent with her daughters and grandchildren.

In her free time, Sharon enjoyed planting and growing flowers, attending car shows and tractor pulls, and coloring in adult coloring books. She had a sweet tooth for 3 Musketeers candy bars and chicken-in-a-biscuit crackers. Sharon also loved watching NASCAR, football, and basketball, especially cheering on Caitlin Clark. She enjoyed keeping up with Fox News and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with the people she loved.

Those left to cherish Sharon’s memory include her children, Teri (Mike) Branaman of Galena, Missouri, Lori (Darwin) Gjerde of McCallsburg, Iowa, Lisa (Dennis) Gjerde of McCallsburg, Iowa, and Tamara (Raymond) Eley of Zearing, Iowa; grandchildren, Rachel (Herman) Eickert, Nicholas Cornelison, Jordan Fisher, Jared Fisher, Ryan (Jaime) Gjerde, Derek (Jessie) Gjerde, Tiffany (Matthew) Peterson, Tanya Watters, Shawn (Jessica) Gjerde, James (Katie) Gjerde, Trevor Eley, Ashlyn (Koddy) Hildreth, and Parker (Grace) Eley; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen Chance and Martin (Kathy) Herr; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Deloris Herr; her husband, Albert Wibholm; her former husband, James Bartine; and her brothers, Ron Herr and Steve Herr.

Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Sharon and her family.
