Wanda Saak, 91, of Baxter passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Baxter Care Center in Baxter. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the United Congregational Church of Christ in Baxter from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Church. Restland Cemetery in Baxter will be Wanda's final resting place. Wanda Louise Saak was born on March 19, 1920 to William E. and Orpha (Osborn) Klopping northeast of Newton in Jasper County. She graduated from Newton High School in 1938. Wanda then began teaching in rural one room school house, a job that she held for three years. She married Wesley Saak and together they began farming in rural Jasper County. She enjoyed her years as a farm wife for 60 years and also had a love for embroidering, gardening, canning, and reading good Christian novels. Wanda was a 70 year member of the Baxter Congregational Church, a member of the Women's Fellowship in Baxter, Mariposa Grange, Jasper Pomona Grange, Iowa State Grange, and National Grange for 65 years. She was a lecturer (program planner) of the Mariposa, Jasper Pomona, and Iowa State Granges. She is survived by her son, Louis (Jane) Saak; daughter, Sharon Patterson Lynch; two granddaughters, Senneh Patterson (Brendan) O'Rielly, and Rigel Patterson; two grandsons, Robert Saak, and Shawn Conklin; great-granddaughter Whitney Saak (Andrew) Ochoa; two great-grandsons, Alexander Saak, and Kieran O'Rielly; great-great-grandson Ryan Ochoa; a special cousin Gerald (Alice) Robinson and family of Baxter; four half-brothers, Howard (Myra) Klopping, Loren (Teresa) Klopping, Dean (Ruth) Klopping, and Richard Klopping; four half-sisters, Beth Hutton, Rhondabelle Ruthuss, Ruth Ellen (Bobby) Lewis, and Carmen Klopping; plus many nieces, nephews, and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Helen Rexroat Klopping, husband Wesley, and a sister Eva Mae Klopping DeSelm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the United Congregational Church of Christ Women's Fellowship group.
