Obituary

Wilma N. Allspach, 90, of Baxter went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 28, 2017. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Baxter Evangelical Free Church in Baxter, Iowa. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Baxter Evangelical Free Church in Baxter with Pastor Mike McClintocks officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa. Wilma was born in Zearing, Iowa at her home on October 2, 1926 to Charles and Ethel (Stevens) Henson. She attended school in Story County, Iowa and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1943. Following high school she went to AIB in Des Moines. She began working for Donnelly's Company, Coca-Cola Distributors, Guardsman Life Insurance Company. On March 18, 1967 she married the love of her life, Richard Allspach. In 1968 a beautiful baby girl Lynette was born and the couple raised her on the family farm outside of Baxter, Iowa. Richard and Wilma farmed together for many years. Once Lynette was raised Wilma began working at the Baxter Community Schools and worked there until 1996. Wilma became a certified reflexologist in 1981 and worked in Newton, Grinnell, and at her home until she retired in November of 2016. Wilma was a member of the Baxter Evangelical Free Church in Baxter, Iowa where she was an adult Sunday school teacher. She also belonged to the Iowa Antique Power Association. Wilma enjoyed her family and loved family get togethers. She also enjoyed camping at the state fair, making picture albums, and going to her grandsons' activities. Those left to cherish her loving memory are her husband of 50 years Richard Allspach of Baxter, IA; daughter Lynette (Ruston) Sullivan of Carlisie, IA; grandchildren Lincoln and Morgan Sullivan of Carlisie, IA; nieces Sandra (Bob) Martin of Columbus Junction, IA; nephews Larry (Barb) Henson of Davenport, IA, and Randy (Linda) Henson of Kearney, MO; close family friend Doris Saak; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles, and sister-in-law Evangeline Henson. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Baxter Evangelical Free Church, or the Baxter Rescue Unit.
